Story Telling by Magda the StorySpider:  (Sponsored by Explorastory)

Explorastory of Rock Castle is dedicated to the art of the oral tradition of storytelling and bringing stories to our community. Our storytellers are just like you- shaping their life into stories and stories into life. Come hear our tales, so you can find a yarn of your own to share later.

Magda the StorySpider has been performing professionally for the last 7 years, ever since FairyTales Bookstore open their doors to her monthly performances. Since then she’s spun her tales from Raleigh, North Carolina to Benton County, Tennessee and everywhere in-between.

In 2009, she was a featured teacher-teller at the Lockeland Design Center, introducing children from Kindergarten through third grade to stories, and got to return this year to explore folklore with two sessions of Encore students. She performed for the Jonesborough National Stortyelling Festival's 1st Annual Story Slam in 2012. Exciting 2013 was the year Eastside Tellabration!, founded by Magda and the 5 Point Merchants, celebrated its 2nd anniversary of local stories and music. She’s also been telling stories at the East Nashville Farmers Market for the last 4 years, vending fairy tales and myths amongst delicious local fruits and vegetables.

Last year, she expanded into the world of adult audiences, performing for "That Time of the Month" at Cafe Coco (June and September), as well as “The Night of Free Speech” in July and Tomato Art Fest in August.

She is a member of Explorastory, a storytelling guild based out of Hendersonville and an affiliate of the National Storytelling Network. Explorastory has performed for the Tomato KidsFest for the last 4 years, recently hosted an event highlighting local teller Minton Sparks, and hosts their annual concert called “Spirits at Rock Castle” in October, in addition to being featured at the Tennessee State Haunted Museum for the last 3 years.
