Tomato Recipe Contest Winners

Supported by Abode Mercantile and Margot Cafe

First, we’d like to congratulate you all for participating in the Tomato Art Fest’s 22nd annual Tomato Recipe Contest. We received 12 dishes submitted by 11 worthy home chefs and culinary creatives, all of whom are deserving of praise.

This year's category was “Beyond the Red: Creative Uses for Heirloom Tomatoes”. You all showed exceptional creativity and thoughtfulness in creating recipes that not only celebrated the diverse flavors and appearances of heirlooms but also honored the rich agricultural heritage and the diverse hands that have cultivated them over time.

The judging is complete, and the scores are in! There was only a three-point scoring difference between the top three finalists!

FIRST PLACE

This year’s Tomato Recipe Contest winner is Taylor Esche with her Gochujang Lasagna with Heirloom Marinara and Miso Ricotta, a memorable take on everybody’s favorite. Taylor’s winning recipe will be featured at Margot Cafe and Bar on Saturday, August 9th.

RUNNER-UP

This year’s runner-up is Morgan Rogers for her BLT: Heirloom with Bacon Jam (or BLHT for short). Beyond the gorgeous heirlooms on this sandwich, the star was the bacon jam. The judges said they would go back to a restaurant for this sandwich - it was that good!

HONORABLE MENTION

An honorable mention goes to Andrea Vaughn, whose Grilled Cheese Biscuits with Tomato Soup Jam is a delectable combination of scratch-made biscuits and a delicious heirloom tomato jam. The presentation was on point and duly noted by the judges!

A big thank you to our judges this year -
